I converted to D&D 5th from older editions (BECMI to 2nd) five magical arrows I like a lot in the past.
I took them from Dragon #135, Rules Cyclopedia and the Complete Books of Elves.
You can change it to bolts or anything else you want and you can use them virtually in any campaign.
Use them to spice up fights from distance.
Arrow of Blinding

When you it the target with this magical arrow making piercing damage as usual, the arrow also bursts in a flash of magical light. Every creature in a 30 foot radius from the target must make a DC 15 CON saving throw or be blinded for 1 minute. At the end of each of their turns, the affected creatures can make another CON saving throw. On a success, the effect ends.
Arrow of Darkness

When you it the target with this magical arrow making piercing damage as usual, the Arrow also creates a 15 foot sphere of magical darkness (centered on the target) which lasts for 1 minute. The darkness spreads around corners. A creature with darkvision can't see through this darkness, and nomagical light can't illuminate it.

This magical arrow has a range doubled.
Arrow of Holding
Uncommon magical item
When you it the target with this magical arrow making piercing damage as usual, the target must also make a DC 15 CON saving throw or be paralyzed for 1 minute. At the end of each of its turns, the target can make another WIS saving throw. On a success, the effect ends.
Arrow of Screaming
Uncommon magical item
Every creature other than the archer that are up to 30 foot from the arrow's path and that can hear must make a DC 15 WIS saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute. At the end of each of their turns, the affected creatures can make another WIS saving throw. On a success, the effect ends.
